Exhibition – ‘Photos Tell Stories’ – Gambian photography students prints are on route, thanks to AdoramaPix, NYC!

We are getting nearer to setting a date for the Photos Tell Stories photography workshops students exhibition, here in The Gambia. We want to welcome on board –  and give huge thanks to to one of our local photography stores – AdoramaPix, in New York, for partnering with us  – the shipment of prints is on route to West Africa!

We also want to thank all our other partners and contributors– all of whom have helped to get to where we are now: US Embassy, Banjul, The Gambia; FujiFilm, USA; powerHouse Books, USA;  Gambia Experience, UK; Foto Care, USA; Protronica Ltd, UK; Jekkah – African inspired clothing, The Gambia; Qcell, The Gambia. And, a whole list of phenomenal contributing photographers: Manjari Sharma; Amber Terranova; Amy Toensing; Sari Goodfriend; Ryan Heffernan; Ben Lowy; Stefan Falke; Oskar Landi; Thomas Donley; Brandon Remler; Wayne Lawrence;   Chris Bartlett; Robert Goldstein; Henry Jacobson; Heloise Bergman.

This week, we hope to visit a central venue which will be perfect for the exhibition and event night – where we will be able not to exhibit the prints, but also show a slideshow of images, on a big screen, from all the work produced during the workshops we held here in The Gambia; along with Jason Florio’s work from our two West Africa expeditions. If you want to receive updates on how things are progressing, simply subscribe (in the left hand column) by entering your email address. You may also ‘like‘ our PTS’s FB page or follow us on twitter

Thanks to our partners and contributors for ‘Photos Tell Stories’ photography workshops in The Gambia

We’ve had tremendously generous support from our partners and contributors for the inaugural ‘Photos Tell Stories: teaching photography – a visual language‘ workshops in The Gambia, West Africa.

Today, we want to thank just a couple of them –  more thanks coming soon, to everyone else who helped make the workshops a great success.

HYPERJUICE_FLO
Protronica Ltd, UK – Hyperjuice External Battery – Jason Florio in his ‘office’

In a country where there are at least one or two power cuts each day (where there is electricity in the first place) these HyperMac batteries, from Protronica, UK, have been served us over and over again – from charging our Mac laptops to our mobile phones. Protronica have been longtime supporters of our West Africa projects – they supplied us with the HyperMac batteries for the River Gambia Expedition, 2012-13.  Thank you Protronica!

POWERHOUSE2
powerHouse, USA

Big thanks to powerHouse Books, Brooklyn, NY, for donating a stack of great photography books for our Gambian students to peruse during the workshops. They generated much excitement amongst our young students. So, we hope to try and ship more books over, in the near future,  to build up a photography book reference library – which will be accessible to everyone who is interested in photography here in The Gambia.

And…the workshops would not have happened without the support of the inimitable Josh Shrager, Papa Njie, and all at the US Embassy, Banjul, The Gambia. Huge gratitude goes to these guys for partnering with Photos Tell Stories – from our initial meeting with Josh, casually talking all things photography,  over a year ago, to the fruition of the first workshop in January 2014.

More thanks to all those who believed in Photos Tell Stories coming soon. In the meantime, please check out our partners and contributors page.

Last but definitely not least, please do check out some very inspiring work from our young Gambian students here.
